Margaret “Peggy” J. Hursey worked for the Columbus Grove Fraternal Order of the Eagles
Margaret “Peggy” J. Hursey, 94, passed away August 1, 2023, at 2:54 p.m, at Putnam Heritage Assisted Living.
Margaret was born July 11, 1929 in Bluffton, to Frederic and Eva (Wiess) Martin who preceded her in death. On December 18, 1949 she married Robert Hursey who preceded her in death on January 2, 2006.
She was a 1947 graduate of Bluffton High School and a member of Bluffton Presbyterian Church. She retired from the Columbus Grove Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She enjoyed spending time in the water, whether at the lake or in her pool. She loved spending time with her family, especially her pets and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Jeffrey (Denise) Hursey of Pottstown, PA, Robin (Roy) Sargent of Columbus Grove, Lynda (Kim) Best of Bluffton; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Dino) Moler of Shawnee, Andrea Best of Bluffton, Brandon (Emily) Best of St. Petersburg, FL, Chad (Jaime) Best of Shawnee, Matthew (Stevi) Sargent of Columbus Grove, Kris Sargent of Columbus Grove, and Karmen Busick of Columbus Grove; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her three siblings, James Martin, Frida Van Tassel, and Cheryl Martin.
Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023 at Bluffton Presbyterian Church at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Butcher to officiate the service. A private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, August 26, 2023, 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Putnam County Hospice or Bluffton Presbyterian Church.
