Dorothy (Beck) Couch was a teacher
Dorothy (Beck) Couch, 96, of Bluffton and formerly of Sandusky, OH, passed away peacefully early Wednesday evening, September 27, 2023, in the Bridge Hospice unit at Blanchard Valley Health Center, in Findlay, OH.
She was born on March 29, 1927, in Ravenna, OH the daughter of Hugh George and Georgia Mae (Werner) Beck. She graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Dorothy was a teacher in the Sandusky Public School System for nearly 35 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to Sandusky city, she had taught in Portage, Summit, Marion and Sandusky Counties.
She loved spending time with her family, but she especially enjoyed attending church services and the various activities over the years.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir; was active in the local and the district levels of the United Methodist Women; was a member of the College Women's Club and also the Erie County Retired Teachers.
She is survived by two sons, Roy (Cathy) Couch of Bluffton, OH and Loren (Sara) Couch of Sandpoint, Idaho; a daughter, Kay (Randy) Cooke of Debary, FL; her five grandchildren, Brian (Jennifer) Cooke, Andrew (Emily) Cooke, Nate, Elizabeth and Caitlyn Couch; and her nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 40 years, Wilson L. Couch on January 5, 1995; and her sister, Louise Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 4-7 p.m. at the David F. Koch Funeral and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky and on Monday morning, October 9, 2023, from 10 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, OH. Rev. Ted C. Buehl and Rev. Robert J. Machovec, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Sandusky, OH.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky, OH 44870.
