William "Bill" K. Place was a teacher
William "Bill" K. Place, 67, peacefully passed away October 14, 2023, at St. Rita's Medical Center surrounded by the love of his family.
William was born January 26, 1956 in Lima to William and Helen (Clark) Place who preceded him in death. He later married Sally (Pulfer) Place who survives.
He was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Defiance College and his master’s degree from the University of Dayton. He retired as a teacher from Bath High School, but taught at Bluffton High School and Minster High School as well. He loved sports and coached football, basketball and baseball. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cleveland Indians fan. He loved collecting vinyl records, attending concerts, watching the Three Stooges, and landscaping. He was an exceptionally loyal person, especially to his friends. Above all, he fiercely loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and was a man of unwavering faith. The family finds great peace in knowing that he’s fully restored, getting to see his loved ones in heaven.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Place of Bluffton; four children, Angela (Brian Fochtman) Burkholder of Bluffton, Kyle (Brooke) Place of Bluffton, Amanda (Travis) Missler of Bluffton, and Kory (Taylor Marsh) Place of Bluffton; seven grandchildren, Savana Missler, Tysen Missler, Lochlan Place, Deklan Missler, Owen Missler, Brynn Place, Masen Missler, and one grandchild on the way; his siblings, Joyce (Steve) Vivian of Glandorf, Amos (Julie) Place of Glandorf, and Jason (Justice) Place of Delphos; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Darren Place.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023, 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton. Services will be held Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at 10:00 am at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton. Ben Thiel to officiate the service. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery of Delphos following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Ohio State University, The James Cancer Center - Brain and Spine Unit.
