November 2023 programs and services at Bluffton Public Library

Check out the following events and programs for the Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., for the month of November 2023. In addition to book and reading events, there will be music, watercolors, a health clinic, Soup Day, onigiri (Japanese rice balls), an exchange student presentation, a Precious Moments collection display, chess and the start of the library's annual winter fundraiser.

Winter Fundraiser: November 1- December 31, 2023. Your donation will help us continue fostering a lifetime love of learning in our community! Donate by cash, check, or by credit card using our Paypal option available at www.blufftonpubliclibrary.org/donate/ Donations are tax-deductible.

Noon Book Group (R) meets Wed., Nov. 1 to discuss How to Find Your Way Home with author Katy Regan via Zoom. On Wed., Dec. 6, the group will discuss The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. Stop by the library front desk to register and pick up the book! 

Children’s Book Week is November 6-12! Help us celebrate Children’s Book Week by reading your favorite children’s book, signing your family up for library cards, or visiting the library! (Continues.)

Fall Storytime is full. Stay tuned for Winter Family Storytime in December. Something special is coming to the library in December! Santa’s Firetruck & Family Storytimes too!

Dulcimers @ the Library: The Bluffton Dulcimer Group will be practicing for upcoming performances the first Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The public is welcome to come to the library and listen!

Mobile Health Clinic: This service has been moved to the second Wednesday of each month. The next Mobile Health Clinic will be on Wed., Nov. 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening) and osteoporosis. Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.

Watercolor Workshop: Perched in Birch (R)($) will be held Thurs., Nov. 9 and 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Local artist Jeanne Beutler will teach on the lower level of the library. Walk away with your own watercolor piece of art, complete with mat! There is a $10 supply fee at the door (cash only please), and advance registration is required as space is limited. Open to adults and teens, and children with an accompanying adult.

Soup Day: Tues., Nov. 14 @ 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Who doesn’t love soup? Come in, sample and vote for your favorite Staff soup - while supplies last!

Galley Book Group (R) meets Wed. Nov. 15 at 12:00 p.m. to discuss When the Jessamine Grows by Donna Everhart, which is scheduled to be published in February of 2024.  Stop by the library’s front desk to register and pick up the book. (Books are limited to those planning to attend the discussion.)

Onigiri Workshop: Wed., Nov. 15 at 5:00 p.m. Join the library and the Mazza Museum for an evening learning about and creating Onigiri! This program is open to children, students, and families - advance registration is required by Nov. 13 and space is limited to 20 people.

Exchange Student Presentation: Fri., Nov. 17 at 4:00 p.m. Spend the afternoon meeting a local exchange student and learning more about their country! This program is open to children, students, and families - please register by Nov. 15.

Hummin' & Strummin' Song Circle will meet at 5:30 p.m. each Monday the library is open. (Check the library calendar or website.) This is a relaxed, song-circle style music session and anyone is welcome to join or listen in. Bring your instrument, voice, or listening ears!

Chess Tuesdays! The library has an area designated on the Main Floor for open chess from 5:30-7:30 p.m. every Tuesday the library is open. Bring your own board or use one of the library’s! 

Display Case - Come in and enjoy Precious Moments figurines.  Find a favorite and mark your calendars for November 27-30th, you may be able to take home your very own figurine. 

HOLIDAY CLOSINGS

*Bluffton Public Library will be closed on Friday November 10, in observance of Veterans Day holiday.  Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.  Normal hours will resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

**Bluffton Public Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and remain closed Nov. 23-26. Regular hours resume on Monday, Nov. 27 at 9:30 a.m. Due dates will be adjusted accordingly.

COVID-19 Test Kits
At-Home COVID Tests are available at the Library.  If you have been exposed to COVID-19, please call to schedule curbside pickup.
