Clarabeth Bixel was a nurse and homemaker
Clarabeth Bixel, 87, passed away November 18, 2023 at Willow Ridge - Frieda House, Bluffton. Clarabeth was born January 29, 1936 in Pandora to the late Archie and Velma (Miller) Diller. On April 2, 1955 she married Dwight Bixel who preceded her in death on October 24, 2017.
Clarabeth was a homemaker and former nurse at Bluffton Hospital, Mennonite Memorial Home and the Red Cross. She was a member of Ebenezer Mennonite Church, where she taught first grade Sunday School for many years. Clarabeth also participated in short term mission trips and served meals at Our Daily Bread for over 20 years. She was a board member for the Mennonite Memorial Home and also served on the Women's Auxiliary for the Gideons.
Survivors include three children, Jane (Steve) Shaw, Amy Bixel, Seth (Carol) Bixel; four grandchildren, John (Jaime) Shaw, Anna Vast, Alyssa (Jacob) Rowland, Alaina (Logan) Skelly; five great-grandchildren, Taryn and Tyler Shaw, Noah Skelly, Theo and Poppy Rowland; two brothers, Pete (Marilu) Diller, Darrell Diller and a brother-in-law, Bill Croft.
Clarabeth was preceded in death by her sisters, Rachel Diller, JoAnna Croft, Jean Suter, Cathryn Kiene and a brother, Ted Diller.
Clarabeth’s services will begin at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church, Bluffton with pastors Jim King and David Glick officiating. A private burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 21, 2023 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ebenezer Mennonite Mission Fund, 8905 Columbus Grove-Bluffton Road, Bluffton, Ohio 45817.
