Fertilizer applicator certification class in January

ALLEN COUNTY__A fertilizer applicator certification training class is being held in Allen County on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at the Allen County Fairgrounds Youth Activities Building in Lima. The class will run from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The cost of the class is $30.

Anyone wishing to take the class must visit www.go.osu.edu/allennewfert/ or call the Extension office at 419-879-9108 to pre-register by Friday, January 26, 2024.

The Agricultural Fertilizer Applicator Certificate is required by law and is enforced by the Ohio Department of Agriculture when a producer applies fertilizer to more than fifty acres of land being used for agricultural production. This applies to both horticultural and agronomic crops. Unlike pesticide licenses, there is no distinction between a commercial or private license. There are exceptions for Certified Crop Advisors (CCA) and Certified Livestock Managers (CLM).

A license can be obtained by attending a three-hour training class or by passing the Agricultural Fertilizer Applicator exam. More information about who needs a license can be found at https://agri.ohio.gov/divisions/plant-health/fertilizers or you can call the OSU Extension Allen County office at 419-879-9108 with questions.

If you have any questions, please call the OSU Extension Allen County office at 419-879-9108.
