J. Denny and Jenny Beaver reveal on February 16
On Friday, Feb. 16, between the women’s and men’s basketball games against Defiance College, Bluffton University will reveal which students are in the J. Denny and Jenny Beaver suits. The women’s game starts at 6 p.m. in the Sommer Center, and the reveal is expected to take place at approximately 7:15 p.m. Game tickets can be purchased at www.bluffton.edu/reveal
Throughout the year, the mascots can be found at admissions, advancement and community events. They also routinely cheer on athletes at sporting events. Multiple university students portray the Beavers, and the chosen few in the suit must pass a competitive selection process which includes a written application, an in-person interview and an audition in the suit.
J. Denny came on the scene in fall 2010 to honor Dr. J. Denny Weaver, professor emeritus of religion and longtime faculty athletics representative at Bluffton. Jenny was introduced in fall 2014 to help J. Denny spread campus spirit.
The reveal will kick off the application process for the next round of Beavers to be selected for the 2024-25 academic year. Only 50 students have served as either J. Denny or Jenny Beaver.
