Holy Week services at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church
Special Holy Week services will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera. The March 24 Palm Sunday services will begin at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. with a procession of palms with the children and Adult Choirs singing "Hosanna, Loud Hosanna."
The readings are: Zechariah 9:9-12; Hebrews 12:1-3; and Mark 11:1-10. The sermon theme, based on Hebrews 12:1-3, is: Rethinking Real Strength. Hymns are Hosanna, Loud Hosanna; All Glory, Laud, and Honor; Exult Today, Jerusalem; and Ride On, Ride On in Majesty.
On March 28, Holy Thursday, the sermon theme is: God on Trial: Respite. The readings are: Exodus 12:21-30, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, Mark 14:12-26; and Luke 22:7-20 which will call to mind the first Lord's Supper. Hymns are: The Blood of the Lamb; A Lamb Goes Uncomplaining Forth; Lord Jesus Christ, You Have Prepared; Christ, the Life of All the Living; and O Lord, We Praise You. The service will begin at 7:00 p.m.
The service on March 29, Good Friday, beginning at 7:00 p.m, is a "Seven Word Service." The theme is "God on Trial: Evidence." The readings are from Isaiah 53, the Crucifixion accounts from Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and from John 19:17-30. The hymns are: The Lamb; Alas! And Did My Savior Bleed; The Seven Words; and Rest, O Christ, from All Your Labor.
