Kim Fischer Press Box dedication on Saturday, April 6
UPDATED April 3.
The Kim Fischer Press Box at the Bluffton University Softball Field will be dedicated on Saturday, April 6. Community members are invited to a ribbon cutting and ceremonial pitch starting at 12:30 p.m. The dedication will be followed by a Beavers Softball doubleheader against the Defiance College Yellow Jackets starting at 1:00 p.m.
The press box recognizes the impact of Bluffton’s winningest female coach. The late Kim Fischer coached volleyball for 19 seasons, women’s basketball for 11 season and softball for six seasons at Bluffton. She was inducted into the Bluffton University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999.
Constructed behind the softball field’s home plate, the new facility is a two-story brick building with restrooms, storage space and a press box for media and streaming. Many of Fischer’s students, players, family and friends contributed to the construction efforts in her honor.
The dedication and doubleheader are free and open to the public.
