R. Kent Mathewson worked for Ford Motor Co.
R. Kent Mathewson, 86, passed away June 16, 2024 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
Kent was born September 8, 1937 in Allen County to the late Byrl and Ethel (Reddick) Mathewson. On June 30, 1957 he married Mary Moe Mathewson and she survives.
Kent graduated from Cory-Rawson High School. He worked at Triplett Corporation and retired from Ford Motor Company. Following retirement, he worked at the Hanson-Neely Funeral Homes in Ada/Alger for twenty-five years. Kent was a member of the County Line Church and the Valley of Toledo Masonic Lodge as a 33rd degree Mason. He loved time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Kent is survived by his wife Mary Mathewson of Bluffton; a son, Robert (Cherie) Mathewson of Delphos; a daughter-in-law, Kim Mathewson of Marysville; two grandchildren, Krista Mathewson of Marysville, Tanner (Danielle) Mathewson of Lima; two great-grandsons, Jayden and Silas Mitchell; one great-granddaughter, Knoxley Mathewson; a sister-in-law, Karen Epley of Ada; a brother-in-law, George Deringer of Worthington and several nieces and nephews.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Michael and John Mathewson; a grandson, Jason Mathewson; and siblings, Robert J. (LaDonna) Mathewson and Marilyn Deringer.
As per Kent's wishes, a private memorial service will be held.
