Pirate boys soccer blanks Kenton

BLUFFTON __ The Bluffton High School boys soccer team scored a pair of goals early in the second half to defeat visiting Kenton 2-0 in a non-league match on Thursday evening, September 12, at Steinmetz Field.
The Pirate record improved to 3-6 with the victory. The Wildcats fell to 3-3-2 after the shutout loss.
The game was scoreless at halftime. Bluffton’s Chase Kelly then broke the ice with a goal in the 44th minute on an assist by Jackson Brauen.
Four minutes later, the Pirates struck again. Ollie Combs netted the second goal from Kelly.
Pirate keeper Alex Davis did not have to make any saves in goal to preserve the clean sheet. The Kenton keeper was credited with four stops.
Kelly tallied a goal and assisted on the other to play a key role in both Bluffton scores.
The JV game ended up 0-0.
The Pirates (1-0 NWC) visit local Northwest Conference rival Allen East (1-6-1, 0-0-1 NWC) Monday, Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
