Pirates volleyball defeats Wildcats

DELPHOS __ The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team defeated Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson handily in straight sets Tuesday night, September 17.
The dominating 25-19, 25-12, 25-2 Pirate sweep improved their record to 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the NWC. Bluffton has won 11 of their last 12 matches.
Delphos Jefferson fell to 3-9 overall and 0-3 in NWC play after the defeat.
“We started off a little slow then found our rhythm,” said Pirate head coach Kevin King.
Kendall Stackhouse topped the Pirates with 14 kills. Ayla Grandey and Karlie Lora each knocked down nine kills. Libby Hocanson contributed six kills and served five aces.
Setter Gracie Yarnell passed out 31 assists.
The Pirate spikers visit solid non-league foe Carey (9-3) Saturday morning, Sept. 21. The Blue Devils swept Columbus Grove (5-6, 2-0 NWC) August 26.
