Lavern H. Hermiller was a dairy farmer
Lavern H. Hermiller, 94, passed away October 2, 2024 at Mercy Health - St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Lavern was born October 22, 1929 in Glandorf to the late John and Mary (Rosenbauer) Hermiller. He was married to Dolores (Halker) Hermiller who preceded him in death and he later married Marjorie (Greulich) Trenkamp Hermiller who also preceded him in death.
Lavern was a graduate of Glandorf High School and was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Bluffton, the National Farmers Organization, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #370, Lima and the United Dairy Farmers. Lavern enjoyed making marble boards and playing euchre with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan especially of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Indians and NASCAR.
Survivors include eleven children, Deb (Don) Hohenbrink of Bluffton, Sue (Steve) Recker of Mt. Cory, Jane Warren of Columbus Grove, Larry (Vicki) Hermiller of Pandora, Tom (Ann) Hermiller of Lima, Jerry Trenkamp of Lima, Craig (Mary) Trenkamp of Cridersville, Tim (Gina) Trenkamp of North Carolina, Carla Visser of Orlando, Florida, Ron (Chris) Trenkamp of Cincinnati, John (Tami) Trenkamp of Lima; thirty-two grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Mary Ann) Hermiller of Glandorf; and three sisters, Florence Schroeder of Kalida, Margaret Schimmoeller of Kalida and Donna Utrup of Glandorf.
Lavern was also preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Hermiller; his son-in-law, Dennis Warren and his siblings, Arthur Hermiller, Carl Hermiller, Dennis Hermiller, Doris Liebrecht, Genevieve Rosengarten, Delores Schimmoeller, Mary Ann Hermiller, Joyce Hermiller, Wilford Hermiller, Richard Hermiller and Harold Hermiller.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bluffton with Father John Murray officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery in Columbus Grove at 1:30 p.m., Monday. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 6, 2024 from 1:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton where a wake service will take place at 5:45 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
