Pirates bowl in Perry Invite
By Cort Reynolds
LIMA – The Bluffton High School bowling team competed in the Perry Commodore Invitational Saturday, February 1.
The Pirates finished 10th at the 13-team event.
Thirteen teams bowled 10 games in the qualifying round, with only the top four teams moving on.
Round two scores re-set to zero, and the top four teams bowled three more games. From there, the top two teams moved on. All contests bowled were Baker games on the post-season oil pattern.
The 10 Baker game scores for Bluffton:
170-144-143-114-180-164-111-131-123-159=1,439
“After game one we struggled, and it was definitely not the results we were looking for,” said Pirate coach Ben Nye. “Even though the day did not go as planned, the bowlers were able to learn a lot from the lane conditions and 100 percent took away valuable information getting closer to the sectional tournament.
“With only two weeks before we see this oil pattern again, today was very helpful for everyone,” he added.
