Letter: Don't cut Ohio libraries
From Bluffton Public Library Facebook
Dear Library Supporters,
Ohio public libraries need your help! Ohio’s public libraries are facing the proposed elimination of the Public Library Fund and a resulting funding loss of over $100 million dollars. Ohio’s public libraries already operate on funding like we had in 2000, with no adjustment for inflation.
How will this impact the library?
The Public Library Fund helps us provide materials, resources, and services to our community - meaning cuts would result in loss of programming, materials, and access - Everything from books to Storytime, Libby to inter-library loan, public computers to Summer Reading.
How can you help?
Reach out to your Ohio House representative and Speaker Matt Huffman and share your stories of what the library means to you.
Tell them to restore the funding as presented in the Governor’s proposed budget, and remind them what the library means for you, your family, and your community. You can share your stories with us and we’ll share them with our representative.
Speaker Matt Huffman can be reached at [email protected] or (614) 466-6344.
It’s our library, and our community.
With gratitude,
Jessica Hermiller
Director, Bluffton Public Library
