Pirate softball blanked by Elida

ELIDA -- The visiting Bluffton High School girls softball team lost at non-league foe Elida 15-0 on a chilly Monday, April 7.
Bulldog pitcher Lily Sifrit pitched a five-inning perfect game and also slugged a home run, tripled and hit a single.
Sifrit struck out 11 and walked none to earn the mercy rule victory. At the plate, she drove in two runs and scored three.
Abby Daugherty and Kayla Hunter each also homered as Elida banged out 15 hits.
Elida improved to 3-5 with the lopsided win, while the Pirates are 0-2.
Bluffton pitcher Peyton Worcester started and took the loss. Haelee Rayle pitched 3.3 innings of relief and struck out three.
The Pirates committed three errors to no miscues by Elida.
The Pirates host Allen East (1-2) Thursday in the Northwest Conference opener. They visit tough BVC foe Liberty-Benton (7-1) Saturday.
