Pirate baseball win vs. Wildcats

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School baseball team methodically defeated Northwest Conference rival Delphos Jefferson 6-2 Thursday, April 17.
The Pirates improved to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the victory.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats fell to 0-11 overall and 0-3 in NWC play after the defeat.
The Pirates tallied a run in the third and two more in the fourth inning to lead 3-0. Both teams plated a run in the fifth to make it 4-1. DJ scored a run in the sixth to inch within 4-2.
But the Pirates pushed two insurance runs across the plate in the top of the seventh to win, 6-2.
Senior Quinn Eachus hurled a seven-inning complete game to earn the win. He allowed six hits and two earned runs, while striking out six and walking just one.
Sophomore Blayne Hill doubled, hit a single, scored a run and drove in three runs to pace the Pirate offense.
Senior Luke Jebsen knocked in a run with a double and a single. Eachus singled in one run. Robby Taylor scored two runs and hit a single. Senior Landen Worcester singled and stole a base.
Evan Speicher and Jake Weaver each contributed a single and scored a run.
The Pirates out-hit the Wildcats 10-6, and committed two errors compared to one miscue by DJ.
Bluffton drew two walks and scored three unearned runs.
