Pirate baseball loss vs. Fort Jennings

FT. JENNINGS – The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team lost 13-3 to non-conference foe Fort Jennings Wednesday, April 23.
The Pirates fell to 6-7 overall with the defeat.
Ft. Jennings improved to 7-4 after the non-league win.
FJ scored five runs in the bottom of the first after the Pirates scored two in the top of the opening frame. The Musketeers plated six runs in the fourth to build an 11-2 cushion.
Bluffton scored a run in the fifth, but FJ answered with two scores in the home half of the fifth to invoke the 10-run mercy rule.
Both teams had seven hits, but FJ drew nine walks and took advantage of three errors. The Pirates hit five doubles and committed two miscues.
Nathan Speicher smacked two doubles to lead the Pirates. Luke Jebsen hit two doubles and scored two runs. Jake Weaver doubled and singled as well. Evan Speicher singled in a run.
FJ’s Adam Hoersten slugged a two-run homer. Evan Ellerbrock drove in four runs.
Bluffton drew one walk and allowed two unearned runs.
The Pirates visit league foe Crestview (5-6, 3-1 NWC) Thursday.
Bluffton is slated to play at local non-league rival Cory-Rawson (1-7) Friday.
