Pirate baseball shut out by Knights

CONVOY – The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team lost 8-0 at Northwest Conference rival Crestview Thursday, April 24.
The Pirates fell to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in NWC play with the defeat.
Crestview improved to 6-6 overall and 4-1 in the NWC after the win.
The Knights scored four runs in the fourth to build a 5-0 lead. The hosts tacked on three more scores in the sixth to put it out of reach.
Bluffton’s Nathan Speicher knocked out two singles. Blayne Hill, Luke Jebsen, Quinn Eachus, Jake Weaver and Dylan Painter added one single apiece.
Both teams stroked seven hits, but Pirate pitching issued seven walks. Bluffton committed two errors, while the Knights made one miscue.
Bluffton drew no walks.
The Pirates visit local non-league rival Cory-Rawson (1-7) Friday.
