ADA – The Bluffton High School boys and girls track and field teams lapped the field to secure first in the annual 16-team Ada Invitational meet at War Memorial Stadium on a sunny Saturday, May 10.

Bluffton won the boys and girls team crowns in decisive fashion. 

The Bluffton boys took first with 151 points, far ahead of second-place Van Wert (69). Mohawk and Arlington tied for third with 61 points.  Spencerville came in fifth (53).

The Pirate girls easily outscored second-place Spencerville, 146 points to 84. Van Wert came in third (74), while Riverdale finished fourth (63).

Versatile Pirate freshman standout Maelee Miller captured first in three individual events. She won the 100-meter dash, the high jump and the 400-meter run.

Bluffton sophomore middle distance ace Nora Matthews crossed the finish line first in both the 800-meter run and in the 1600 meters.

Senior Sadie Tarplee took first in the long jump and finished second in the high jump.

Pirate senior sprint ace Griffin Stackhouse won the 100-meter dash and 200-meter race to pace the Bluffton boys. He also ran a leg for the winning Pirate 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay quartets.

Carson Kruse captured first in the 110-meter high hurdles and also won the 300-meter hurdle race.
