Pirate tennis wins at Oak Harbor

OAK HARBOR – The visiting Bluffton High School boys tennis team edged Oak Harbor Saturday, May 10.
The Pirates improved to 13-3 with the victory. Bluffton took two of the three singles matches and one doubles bout to capture the win.
Pirate senior Branson Hilty won at first singles 7-5, 6-2.
Bluffton senior Jack Brauen also won in straight sets at second singles 6-1, 6-1.
Pirate junior Nick Lovett lost a close third singles match 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
The Bluffton duo of juniors Grady Coonfare and Isaiah Kohli rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first doubles.
The Pirate tandem of junior Hudson Phillips and sophomore Brayden McClure lost at second doubles 6-1, 6-1.
The Pirate junior varsity also beat OH 4-0 by sweeping all eight sets.
Hilty was seeded third for the upcoming May 15 sectional singles tournament.
The Pirate first doubles duo of Coonfare and Kohli was seeded fourth in the sectional doubles flight.
A top-four sectional finish advances a player or doubles duo to the district tourney.
