Pirate tennis dominates Defiance

BLUFFTON - The streaking Bluffton High School boys tennis team swept visiting Western Buckeye League foe Defiance 5-0 on Monday, May 12.

The Pirates improved to 14-3 with the victory. Bluffton won all 10 sets, including all three singles matches without dropping a single game.

Struggling Defiance fell to 1-7 with the loss.

Pirate senior Branson Hilty triumphed at first singles 6-0, 6-0.  

Bluffton senior Jack Brauen also won with a double bagel at second singles 6-0, 6-0.

Pirate senior Levi Antrim rolled at third singles 6-0, 6-0.

The Bluffton duo of juniors Grady Coonfare and Isaiah Kohli rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 victory at first doubles.  

The Pirate senior tandem of Caleb Davis and Blake Sommers cruised at second doubles 6-1, 6-2.

Hilty is seeded third for the upcoming May 15 sectional singles tournament.

The Pirate first doubles duo of Coonfare and Kohli was seeded fourth in the sectional doubles flight.

A top-four sectional finish advances a player or doubles duo to the district tourney.
