Eachus, Pirate baseball blanks Leipsic

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton High School baseball team shut out visiting Leipsic 3-0 on a warm Friday evening, May 16.
The Pirates scored single runs in the first, third and fourth innings to beat the Vikings.
Bluffton senior Quinn Eachus hurled a seven-inning shutout to earn the win. He scattered seven hits, striking out five with no walks. At the plate, he aided his own cause with three singles and one run scored.
The Pirates improved to 12-12 overall with the decisive win. The Vikings dropped to 15-11 after the defeat.
Pirate sophomore Nathan Speicher smacked a double and a single, and scored a run. Senior Landen Worcester slapped two singles, scored a run and collected one run batted in.
Jake Weaver singled home a run. Robby Taylor walked and stole a base. Luke Jebsen hit a single and swiped a bag.
Bluffton out-hit the Vikings 10-7 and played error-less defense.
The Pirates play at Green Meadows Conference champion Defiance Tinora (16-4) Monday, May 19 and visit Cory-Rawson (4-13) May 20.
