June Essinger named BHS Student of the Month for May 2025
MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton High School is proud to recognize June Essinger as the Student of the Month for May 2025. June is a senior with a 4.0 GPA and is the daughter of Dave and Alice Essinger of Bluffton.
Throughout her high school career, June has distinguished herself scholastically, earning recognition as the Student of the Year in Organic Chemistry, Economics, Digital Art, Latin II, Science 9 and English 9. Her commitment to academics has been recognized through numerous scholarships from esteemed organizations, including the Lima Exchange Club, Lima Elks, American Association of University Women, Bluffton Lions Club, Charles River Biomedical Research, Blanchard Valley Health System Auxiliary, Vietnam Veterans of America and the American Legion. Additionally, she was named Lima Rotary Club Student of the Month and was the winner of the Lima Noon Optimist Club essay contest.
Beyond her academic pursuits, June is a dedicated leader and athlete. She is the president and co-founder of the Indoor Track Club, captain of the cross-country team, and vice president of the BHS Volunteer Club. Essinger is also a member of the National Honor Society, Latin Club and track and field team, and is a 4-year varsity letter recipient in cross country and swimming. In 2021, she was named the cross-country Runner of the Year by her peers and coaches.
June’s hobbies include playing the piano, dancing and skincare, reflecting her diverse interests. She has taken CCP classes at the University of Findlay and Rhodes State College to further her academic standing. June is passionate about community service, volunteering at Challenged Champions Equine Center in Ottawa and Willow Ridge Assisted Living in Bluffton.
Looking ahead, June plans to attend Oberlin College this fall, where she will double major in Biochemistry and Biology with the intent of becoming a dermatologist. While at Oberlin, she will be participating in the Bonner Scholar program, a scholarship supporting students dedicated to community service during their college years.
June’s academic record, leadership, and dedication to community service exemplify the qualities of a scholar, mentor, and servant. Her accomplishments deserve recognition, and Bluffton High School is proud to honor her as the May student of the month.
