Nancy E. Thornton was a telephone operator
Nancy E. Thornton, 84, passed away June 14, 2025 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Nancy was born June 26, 1940 in Bluffton to the late Ivan and Helen (Bell) Montgomery. On October 1, 1972 she married Richard "Dick" Thornton who preceded her in death on March 10, 1997.
Nancy graduated from Bluffton High School. She was a telephone operator and had also worked at Ex-Cello (Airfoil Textron). Nancy was a member of Pandora United Methodist Church where she had played piano. She loved gospel music and spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Survivors include a brother, David (Brenda) Montgomery of West Liberty, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sue Montgomery of Hartville, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nancy was also preceded in death by a brother, William Montgomery and a sister, Joan Basinger.
Nancy's services will begin at 11:000 a.m., Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at Pandora United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruth Carter-Crist officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 17, 2025, 10:00 -11:00 a.m. at Pandora United Methodist Church. Private burial will take place in Thompson Cemetery, Bluffton.
