Pirate girls tennis loss at Wapak

WAPAKONETA__The visiting Bluffton High School girls tennis team lost 4-1 to WBL foe Wapakoneta in a dual match on Wednesday, August 27.
Wapak improved to 8-1 with their seventh consecutive win, while the Pirates fell to 2-5 after the loss.
The Pirate tandem of Peighton Bowers and Leah Hoffman swept Redskins Allisa Collins and Lily Dodds at second doubles 6-0, 6-3 to provide the Bluffton win.
“Leah and Peighton stayed strong and extended their win streak to six matches,” said Pirate head coach Trish Nieman.
Redskin sophomore Kambree Lighty won at first singles 6-0, 6-2 over Ari Bowling.
Wapak junior Kami Jauert prevailed against Willow Angel by a 6-3, 6-3 count at second singles.
Redskin junior Hannah Palmer beat Pirate Claire Blackburn at third singles 6-3, 6-0.
Wapak junior Marcey Regula and sophomore Addison Stolzenburg teamed up for a 6-3, 6-0 victory at first doubles over Pirates Bekah Rehm and Kate Klinger.
Bluffton plays next on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at home vs. Defiance Ayersville.
