Bluffton girls soccer pounds Knights
Burkholder scores 3, Wise 2 in rout

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team dominated visiting Crestview 9-0 in a Northwest Conference mismatch on Tuesday night, September 2 at Steinmetz Field.
The Pirate girls improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the lopsided win.
The Knight girls fell to 2-3 and 0-1 in the NWC after the defeat.
Bluffton’s Aubrey Burkholder scored three goals to record a hat trick, netting goals early and late. She tallied in the first and eighth to shoot the Pirates into an early 2-0 lead.
Carly Wise then tallied back-to-back goals in the 14th and 15th minutes to provide a 4-0 lead.
Nora Matthews found the back of the net in the 32nd minute, followed by an Audra Snyder netter four minutes later.
Bluffton took a 6-0 cushion to intermission.
Phoebe Edwards-Leeper resumed the rout with a score in the 56th minute. Mya McDougle made it 8-0 with her goal in the 65th minute.
Burkholder ended the game like she started it with a goal in minute 71 to close the scoring.
Bluffton dished out seven assists, with seven different players recording one helper apiece. Mya McDougle (first minute), Jaicelyn Morris (14th), Phoebe Edward’s-Leeper (15th), Aubrey Burkholder (32nd), Greta Myers (36th), Maelee Miller (56th) and Samantha Rueller (65th) each had one assist.
Bluffton fired 21 of its 38 shots on goal. Crestview mustered just two shots, each on goal.
Bluffton keeper Kynzie Ewing made two saves, while Alexis Mummert had none in relief. Crestview goalie Dakota Thornell was credited with 12 saves.
The Pirates host Bath (3-0-1) Thursday at 5 p.m.
