Pirate girls soccer nips Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN __The Bluffton High School girls soccer team rallied for a 3-2 win at Bowling Green in a non-league match on Saturday, September 6.
The Pirate girls improved to 2-3-2 with the comeback win that featured a three-goal explosion late in the first half.
BG’s Corinna Kramer tallied a goal in the seventh minute, followed by an Alayna Mahan netter in the 29th minute to provide the hosts with a 2-0 lead.
Bluffton’s Aubrey Burkholder then scored in the 34th and 38th minutes, sandwiched around a Maelee Miller netter in the 37th minute. The three-goal outburst in a five-minute span gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead just before intermission.
Burkholder assisted on the Miller goal, and Phoebe Edwards-Leeper passed her the ball on the final goal. Burkholder ended up with two goals and one assist.
Bluffton put 10 of its 11 shots on goal. BG fired 11 of its 13 shots on target.
Pirate keeper Kynzie Ewing made nine saves in goal, while the Bowling Green goalie made eight stops.
Bluffton plays at Anna on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
