Bluffton volleyball win vs. Wayne Trace

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School volleyball team outlasted visiting Wayne Trace in a five-set match on Monday, September 8.

The Pirate girls improved to 6-3 overall after the non-league win.

WT fell to 2-7 with the defeat.

Bluffton won the first two sets 25-12 and 25-19, then lost the next two games 23-25 and 14-25 to force a decisive final set.

The Pirates regrouped to pull out the fifth and final game, 15-11.

Kendall Stackhouse again led the Pirate hitters with 15 kills. Lainey Grandey knocked down a dozen kills. Karlie Lora contributed 10 kills and a team-high four blocks.

Adelyn Althaus dished out 22 assists, while Camryn Fruchey passed out 19 helpers. Fruchey also came up with two blocks.

Vanessa Cross mustered up a season-high 32 digs. Gracie Warren and Fruchey hustled up 14 digs apiece.

Cross and Lora each dealt a pair of aces.

Bluffton won the JV match, 2-0.

The Pirates play local league rival Allen East (2-5) in the Northwest Conference opener on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
