Pirate volleyball splits tri at Defiance Tinora

DEFIANCE__The Bluffton High School volleyball team split a tough non-league tri-match at powerhouse Defiance Tinora on Saturday, September 13.

The Pirate girls swept Ottawa Hills, but lost to Defiance Tinora to run their season record to 9-4. 

In the first match an 11-1 Tinora squad beat the Pirates 25-13, 25-23 to end their seven-match win streak.

Karlie Lora knocked down eight kills and mustered 11 digs vs. the Rams. Kendall Stackhouse added seven kills.

Camryn Fruchey dished out 11 assists while Adelyn Althaus doled out nine helpers.

Vanessa Cross hustled up 17 digs. 

Libby Hocanson, Fruchey, Lora and Peyton Worcester each came up with one block.

Bluffton bounced back to beat Ottawa Hills 25-23, 25-19 in their second match.

Lora again topped Bluffton in kills with nine. Stackhouse drilled six kills.

Fruchey dished up 18 assists, while Althaus added seven assists.

Gracie Warren hustled up 12 digs, while Cross came up with nine digs.

Lainey Grandey served two aces, while Lora and Warren each dealt one. 

Emily Granger and Hocanson contributed one block apiece.

Bluffton (2-0 NWC) resumes league play at Lima Central Catholic (5-2, 1-0 NWC) on Thursday, September 18.
