Pirate girls golf 9th at sectionals

OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School girls golf team finished ninth in the 16-team Div. II sectional tournament at Moose Landing Golf Club in Ottawa on Tuesday, September 23.
Junior Katie Bauman led Bluffton with an 18-hole round of 47-52=99. She tied for 21st place in the field of 67 players.
Junior Allison Stechschulte finished with a score of 49-55=104 to tie for 27th place. Freshman Kaydence Welch carded a 56-60=116 to end up 41st.
Sophomore Molly Scott shot 65-60=125 and finished in 49th place.
TOP TEAMS
St. Henry won the girls sectional championship with 386 strokes. New Bremen was second at 390, followed by Minster (391), St. Marys (398) and Delphos Jefferson (401).
Kalida ended up sixth at 403 shots, followed by Coldwater (412), Delphos St. John’s (413) and Bluffton (444).
The Pirates finished ahead of Bath (475), LCC (479), Marion Local (504) and Ottawa-Glandorf (574). Columbus Grove, McComb and New Knoxville did not have enough players to field a team score.
Only the top three teams and top three individuals not on a qualifying team advance to districts next week.
Sophomore Brylee Geary of Delphos Jefferson tied for first in the individual tournament standings with New Bremen junior Ali Trego. Both shot identical rounds of 42-44=86.
LCC sophomore Gianna Cumella of carded an 87 to finish third.
