Match shortened by lightning

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys soccer team lost 2-1 to visiting Ottawa-Glandorf in a non-league match at Steinmetz Field on Thursday, September 25.

The match was stopped and deemed over just two minutes into the second half due to repeated lightning strikes.

Bluffton fell to 3-8-3 with the defeat. O-G improved to 2-9-3 after the win.

Ottawa-Glandorf’s Carson Kimmel scored in the 15th minute to draw first blood.

Bluffton tied it 1-1 on an Ashton Ungashick goal five minutes later. 

The match remained knotted 1-1 at the half.

The Titans scored the tie-breaking goal in the 42nd minute on a shot by Adam Maag. The match was then stopped due to lightning strikes, giving O-G the weather-shortened win.

The teams played to a 0-0 tie in a junior varsity match that lasted one half.

The Pirates (2-0 NWC) host league foe Lincolnview (2-7-1, 1-0-1 NWC) on Monday, September 29. A JV game vs. Ada at home will precede the varsity bout at 5 p.m.
