Bluffton girls soccer shuts out Liberty Center

LIBERTY CENTER__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team scored early and made it stand up in a 1-0 win over Liberty Center on Tuesday, October 7.

Bluffton senior Blair Utendorf netted a goal in the sixth minute off an assist from Aubrey Burkholder to tally what turned out to be the game’s lone score.

The Pirate girls improved to 8-7-1 overall after the road shutout win.

The Tigers fell to 7-4-3 with the defeat.

Bluffton directed six of its 10 shots on goal. LC got off eight shots, four of which were on target.

Bluffton senior keeper Kynzie Ewing saved four LC shots as she and the Pirate defense posted the clean sheet. Tiger goalie Maddie Sattler made five stops in goal.

Bluffton finishes its regular season at Western Buckeye League champion Ottawa-Glandorf (11-5, 7-1 WBL) on Thursday, Oct. 9.

The Pirates then host backyard rival Allen East (2-10-1) in first round tournament play Oct. 14.
