Pirate volleyball win vs. Van Buren

VAN BUREN__The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team ended its regular season with a four-set comeback victory at tough Van Buren in a non-conference match on Thursday, October 9.
The Pirate girls improved to 15-7 overall with the 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, 25-23 road victory. Van Buren fell to 17-5 after the defeat.
Karlie Lora and Kendall Stackhouse tied for team honors in kills with 18 smackdowns apiece.
Camryn Fruchey knocked down 11 kills and dished out 30 assists. Adelyn Althaus doled out 17 assists.
Vanessa Cross topped the Pirates with 18 digs. Gracie Warren hustled up 15 digs, and Taylin Goldman came up with 11 digs.
Stackhouse, Cross, Goldman and Libby Hocanson each served one ace.
Hocanson came up with two blocks, while Lora had one.
The Bluffton junior varsity lost to VB 2-0, but the Bluffton freshmen beat the Black Knights 2-0.
Bluffton plays in the sectional tournament on Thursday, Oct. 16 vs. Elmwood (7-14).
If they win, the Pirates would advance to the district semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at Kalida, likely vs. WBL power Ottawa-Glandorf (17-5).
