Pirate volleyball standouts named all-district 8

BLUFFTON __Several Bluffton volleyball standouts were named to District 8 All-Star teams recently in voting conducted by coaches in the District 8 Volleyball Association.
Kendall Stackhouse and Karlie Lora were named to the District 8 All-Star second team.
Pirate seniors Stackhouse, Libby Hocanson and Vanessa Cross were named to play for team IV in the District 8 Senior All-Star Game. The match will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at Coldwater High School.
The All-Star banquet will be held on Sunday, November 2, at Celina.
Stackhouse was named first team All-Northwest Conference, as was versatile junior Karlie Lora. Stackhouse led Bluffton with 278 kills in the regular season. The 6-1 Lora hammered 220 kills, made 48 blocks and hustled up 144 digs in 22 matches.
Pirate seniors Vanessa Cross and Libby Hocanson also garnered second-team all-league honors. Libero Cross mustered up 327 digs and served 34 aces. The 5-11 Hocanson drilled 131 kills and made 30 blocks.
Bluffton is 16-7 and finished 6-1 in the NWC, good for second place.
Ottawa-Glandorf’s Sienna Fry was named Div. V Player of the Year. The Pirates played Fry and O-G (18-5) in the Div. V NW District semifinals Tuesday night.
