6 Pirate CC runners compete at regional meet

TIFFIN – The Bluffton High School cross country teams sent six runners to the Div. III Northwest Regional Meet on Saturday, October 25 at Tiffin’s Hedges-Boyer Park. None of the six Pirate harriers qualified for the state meet next Saturday at Fortress Obetz in Columbus.
BOYS RESULTS
The Pirate boys were led by freshman Atticus Prothro, who finished 69th in a field of 158 runners with a time of 18:13.41.
Sophomore Toby Clevidence came home 86th in 18:36.37. Sophomore Levin Essinger was 102nd in 18:58.61.
Junior Joel Smelcer of Sandusky Perkins won the boys race with a time of 15:13.35.
Liberty-Benton won the 19-team boys regional Div. III title with 58 points.
GIRLS RESULTS
Pirate freshman Tessa Tarplee came in 79th to pace Bluffton with a time of 22:06.83.
Senior Lydia Tarplee ended up 104th in 22:53.16. Senior Elizabeth Honse finished 110th in 22:58.07.
Port Clinton senior Morgan Wiechman won the 167-runner girls race in 18:07.42.
Huron rolled to the girls 20-team Div. III regional team title with 46 points. Ottawa-Glandorf was a distant second at 126 points.
