David Karl Bower was a farmer
David Karl Bower was taken home to see the Lord on Friday morning, December 5, 2025.
He was born on November 15, 1943, to Ezra and Elizabeth (Bormuth) Bower, who preceded him in death.
David is survived by his wife Karen (Hamilton), two sons Andy and Brian (Daphne) Bower. He is also a proud Grandfather to Emma (Loren) Couch. He is also survived by a sister Ilene (Larry) Parke. He also has many nieces and nephews who survive: Gary (Chris) and Steve (Chris) Freed, Teresa (Rob) Zuercher, Chad (Diane) Parke, Traci Guitterez, and Barry (Bonnie) Hamilton. David was also preceded in death by his sister Sara Mae Freed (Loren LaVern surviving) and brother-in-law Keith (Sharon surviving) Hamilton.
David was an active member of many community functions. He was best known for his quick wit and good natured, yet corny jokes, and his last memorable joke was told at his granddaughter's wedding in September.
David was a lifelong and faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Jenera, where he served as a Deacon, a Trustee, and an Elder, to name a few. He was also in the first class to attend Trinity Lutheran school from kindergarten to 8th grade, before attending Cory Rawson High School, where he graduated in 1961.
David worked at Smith's Hardware out of high school, but his true calling and lifelong career was farming, which he enjoyed doing with his sons and, recently, his new grandson. He was also a member of the National Guard for 6 years. To keep himself busy in the winters, he also drove a semi for many years. David was no stranger to hard work and devotion to his family. For many years, David was the Jenera Co-op Board president. He was also an Eagle Township Trustee for 23 years and served as president of the Hancock County Township Association.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from 2:00 - 4:00 & 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Crates Funeral Home, Arlington, and for one hour (10:00 - 11:00 a.m.) prior to the service at the church. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jenera, with Pastor Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in memory of David to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross. In lieu of monetary donations or flowers, the family would also like to encourage everyone to donate blood. David himself donated many gallons and would be proud to know that lives could be saved even in his death.
