Pirate boys basketball nipped by Toledo Bowsher

BLUFFTON–The Bluffton High School boys basketball team lost 54-50 to visiting Toledo Bowsher in a non-league contest on Tuesday, December 9.

The Pirates led 25-22 at halftime, but Bowsher took a four-point lead into the final stanza behind a 20-13 third-period run.

Both teams netted 12 markers in the fourth quarter.

BlueRacer Aidin Boschen canned four triples, made 10 baskets and scored a game-high 26 points for Bowsher. He scored 17 of his points in the second half to pace the TB comeback.

Boschen tallied nine points in the third period turnaround, then added seven markers in the fourth behind two trifectas.

The Pirates fell to 0-3 after suffering their third tough home loss to start the season. Toledo Bowsher improved to 1-2 by securing their first win.

Pirate Lane Ginther led the hosts with 11 points and two treys.  

Owen Scoles scored 10 points behind two triples. Pirate freshman guard Brody Donley and Parker Lovell each tallied seven points and nailed one three apiece.

Robby Taylor splashed two treys to also net seven points. Brayden McClure scored five points, and Chase Kelly added three.

Donley scored four early points to help Bluffton grab a 15-10 lead after the first period. Scoles sank a trey and a deuce in the second stanza that TB won, 12-10.

Dante Sanders netted all nine of his points for Bowsher in the second half.

The Pirates canned nine deuces and drained 10 triples. Bluffton converted two of four at the charity stripe (50 percent). 

TB made 16 two-pointers, splashed six trifectas and canned four of eight from the charity stripe (50 percent).

Bluffton (0-0 NWC) is back in action on Friday, December 12 in the Northwest Conference opener at Delphos Jefferson (1-2). It is the first road game for the Pirates after three home outings to start the season.
