Downey, Bowlus pace Bluffton swimmers at Napoleon Invite

NAPOLEON–The Bluffton High School girls and boys swim teams both finished eighth at the tough 17-team Napoleon Wildcat Invitational on Saturday, December 13.

Host Napoleon won the girls team title with 402 points. Ottawa-Glandorf took second with 371 points. The Pirate girls finished eighth with 153 points.

Bryan captured the boys team crown with 377 points. Lima Shawnee was a distant second with 274 points. The Bluffton boys also came in eighth with 169 points.

GIRLS RESULTS
Pirate ace Jenna Downey touched first in the 100-yard freestyle (57.62) and took second in the girls 50-yard freestyle in 25.47.

Sophomore Kari Diller finished fourth in the 100 backstroke (68.32). Diller also came in sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:10.32).

Junior Karden Geiser took 10th in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.37).

The Bluffton girls quartet touched third in the 200 free relay (2:05.0).

The Pirate girls foursome took sixth in the 400 free relay (4:21.82).

BOYS RESULTS
Bluffton senior Jackson Bowlus touched first in the 100 back (57.23) and finished second in the 100 free (52.05) to pace the Pirate boys.

Junior Aaron Ungashick came in fourth in the 500 free (5:43.19). He also finished seventh in the 200 IM (2:21.12).

Freshman Camden Verb took sixth in the 200 free (2:03.8).

Sophomore Owen Armstrong ended up eighth in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.24).

The Bluffton A boys foursome took fifth in the 200 medley relay (1:51.62).
