Pirate girls basketball win vs. Kenton

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls basketball team dominated visiting Kenton 65-38 in a non-conference game on Saturday, December 20. 

Eleven Pirate girls scored in their balanced attack, led by Macy Schaadt's 15 points. Greta Myers tallied 14 markers, including two triples in the second period.

The Pirate girls led 16-7 after the first quarter as Schaadt hit a three and a two-pointer. Myers splashed two trifectas and netted eight points in the second stanza as they outscored the visitors 16-10 to build a 32-17 margin at the intermission break.

Bluffton outscored Kenton 33-21 in the second half to win going away by 27.

The Pirates improved to 6-2 overall after the non-league win. Kenton fell to 3-4 after the loss.

Junior guard Maelee Miller tallied 11 points, while Avery Hobensack added six.

Gracie Warren and Ellie Bogart tallied four markers apiece, while senior Blair Utendorf and Camryn Fruchey each scored three.

Wildcat scoring ace Sidney Paine tallied a game-high 22 points on 10 baskets and two free tosses. She tallied 12 markers in the first half, including eight in the second period. 

But the rest of the Wildcats managed to tally just 16 points. Kaylee Barlow added eight markers.

Bluffton connected on 20 two-point goals and splashed five triples. The Pirate girls converted 10 of 16 free-throw attempts (63 percent).

Kenton sank 16 two-pointers and drilled no trifectas. The Wildcats canned six of 10 foul shots (60 percent).

The Pirates play at WBL foe Defiance (2-7) on Monday, Dec. 22.
