MEDIA RELEASE__In his fall 2026 State of the University address, Bluffton University President Dr. Alex Sider challenged the university community to look beyond where Bluffton has been and consider what kind of university and what kind of people it is becoming.
He introduced “Reinvest, Reinvent, Reimagine,” as the organizing framework for Bluffton’s next five years and emphasized the importance of remaining grounded in the university’s historic mission while adapting to a changing world.
BLUFFTON__The visiting Wapakoneta girls tennis team shut out Bluffton 5-0 in a battle of 4-1 teams on Wednesday.
Defending WBL champion Wapakoneta improved to 5-1 with the win, while the Pirates fell to 4-2 after the defeat.
The Redskins swept all three singles matches without losing a set, winning all 36 games.
Peighton Bowers and Leah Hoffman lost a close three-setter to the Redskin duo of Dodds and Eley. The Pirates won the second set 6-0 but lost 7-5 in the decisive set.
PANDORA __The visiting Bluffton High School volleyball team swept local rival Pandora-Gilboa in a non-league match on Wednesday, August 25.
Bluffton improved to 2-2 with the 25-10, 25-16, 25-22 road win.
P-G fell to 1-1 after the three-set home loss.
Camryn Fruchey and Taylin Goldman each drilled 11 kills to lead the Pirate attack. Versatile Karlie Lora knocked down 10 kills, mustered 10 digs and came up with two blocks.
Camryn Fruchey dished out 15 assists and served up two aces.

A dedicated sports enthusiast, Noah has a strong background in coaching, having served as a football coach for many years and currently as a track coach.

On June 10, 1971, Marvin Gaye released his hit Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology), which was the most popular song at the time to talk about the environment. The song was on his second album, What’s Going On. The song hit #4 on the Billboard Top 100 chart and crossed over to the Adult Contemporary chart, hitting number 34. After his tragic death in 1984, Mercy Mercy Me was his third single to be listed in the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2002.
