Michael R. Powell served in the U.S. Army
Michael "Mike" R. Powell, 73, passed away January 25, 2026, at the Meadows of Ottawa.
Mike was born on November 24, 1952, in Bluffton to Raymond and Jean Ann (Klinger) Powell, who preceded him in death. On December 2, 1972, he married Beverly (Stephens) Powell, who survives.
He was a 1971 graduate of Bluffton High School and was a member of the Ebenezer Mennonite Church since 1994. He dedicated 47 years to John Deere-Findlay Implement and was a proud Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. Mike was a lifelong farmer who loved to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly Powell; two sons, Jason (Sarah) Powell of Kalida and Ryan Powell of Bluffton; one grandson, Brantley Powell of Kalida; a twin brother, Gregory (Peggy) Powell of Bluffton; a brother, Terry (Cindy) Powell of Bluffton; and a brother-in-law, Richard Badertscher of Bluffton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Badertscher.
Services will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 11:00 am at Ebenezer Mennonite Church. Pastor David Glick to officiate the service. Burial will be in Ebenezer Mennonite Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services - Bluffton, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Mennonite Church: Missions Fund or the Meadows of Ottawa.
