Donald 'Don' R. Martin was a Korean War veteran

Donald 'Don' R. Martin, 93, passed away March 2, 2026, at the Meadows of Ottawa.

Don was born July 18, 1932, in Belmore, OH, to Harold and Alice (LaRue) Martin who preceded him in death. On March 15, 1952, he married Ilo R. Martin who preceded him in death on May 7, 2023.

Don was a 1950 graduate of Cory-Rawson High School, a member of the Pandora United Methodist Church and a proud Korean War Veteran. He dedicated many years to Skeet's Body Shop in Pandora until retirement. After he retired, he worked for 12 years at Stoops Freightliner, working as a parts deliveryman. Don also spent several years volunteering at V.O.S.H. He was a member of the American Legion and previously served on the Pandora Village Council. He enjoyed traveling with Ilo, especially their trip to Alaska. He also enjoyed woodworking, horses and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two children, Thomas "Tom" (Cheryl) Martin of Bluffton and Leeann (John) Green of Pandora; a son-in-law, Mark Watkins of Pandora; four grandchildren, Sara (Jon) Perkins, Jason (Lauren) Martin, Bradley Watkins, Nicole (Noel) Canlas; four great-grandchildren, Landon and Grayson Perkins, Lena Martin and Henry Canlas; three sisters, Brenda (David) Nelson, Shirley Kananen and Sandra Kloo.

In addition to his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by a daughter, Vicki Watkins; and four siblings, Marilyn Bender, James Martin, Patrick Martin and Gary Martin.

Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, at 11:00 am at Pandora United Methodist Church. Rev. Ruth Carter-Crist to officiate the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery following the service where military honors will take place. Visitation will be Monday, March 9, 2026, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Pandora United Methodist Church.
