Pirate baseball losses vs. Lincolnview, Lima Central Catholic

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School baseball team fell behind big early and lost 20-1 to visiting Northwest Conference unbeaten Lincolnview on Thursday, April 30.
The Lancers scored nine runs in the first inning to seize control with the aid of four Pirate errors. Lincolnview plated three runs in the second, and three more in the third frame to build a commanding 15-0 lead.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the visitors tallied five runs in the top of the fifth. The Pirates tallied their lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth as the 10-run mercy rule was invoked.
The Lancers out-hit the Pirates 13-1 and made no errors. Bluffton committed all of their miscues in the nine-run first inning Lancer outburst.
Bluffton dropped to 2-8-1 overall and 1-4 in NWC play with the defeat.
League leader Lincolnview improved to 10-2 and 4-0 in the NWC after the lopsided win.
Lancer Chayse Overholt hit two singles and drove in two runs while scoring twice. He also earned the pitching win by striking out five and giving up no hits.
Seth Brant smacked two doubles and a single as he collected four RBI. Gavin Evans doubled home two runs. Holden Price singled and knocked in three runs. Jackson Ingledue delivered a two-run single.
Pirate pitcher Evan Blue suffered the pitching loss despite giving up just one hit and no earned runs in the first frame.

LIMA - Bluffton’s Monday game at Northwest Conference rival Lima Central Catholic was suspended by rain in the second inning with the score tied at 0-0.
When play resumed on Wednesday, April 29, LCC went on to win 3-0.
Thunderbird winning pitcher Brady Malcom twirled a seven-inning, two-hit shutout. He struck out nine and walked one.
Louis Knotts hit two singles and drove in a run for the T-Birds. J.J. Schnieders and Andrew Baldauf each singled home a run and walked.
Pirate senior hurler Robby Taylor pitched five innings of five-hit ball to take the loss. He allowed just one earned run and walked two while whiffing a pair.
Pirate Parker Lovell slugged a double as the Pirates were out-hit, 6-2.
LCC improved to 8-4 and 4-1 in the NWC, good for second place in the league.
Bluffton hosts a doubleheader vs. Arlington (2-11) on Saturday.
