Pirate tennis sweeps Wapak

WAPAKONETA__The visiting Bluffton High School boys tennis team defeated WBL foe Wapakoneta 5-0 on Thursday, April 30.
The Pirates improved to 9-2-1 after the decisive victory. Bluffton won 10 of the 11 sets in the lopsided match.
Wapakoneta fell to 5-7 with the convincing defeat.
Bluffton’s Grady Coonfare battled through a third-set tiebreaker to beat Redskin senior Brayden Hooker at first singles. The Pirate senior lost the first set 7-5, then won set two 6-4 to set up a 10-point tiebreak, where he prevailed 10-5.
Pirate senior Isaiah Kohli rolled 6-0, 6-0 at second singles over sophomore Reese Schadle.
At third singles, Bluffton senior Nick Lovett beat junior Thomas Finkelmaier 6-4, 6-0.
At first doubles, Pirate senior Hudson Phillips and sophomore Toby Yarnell swept Redskin sophomores Tyler Roberts and Keaton Walker 6-1, 6-2.
Pirate sophomores Micah Lemley and Ezra Nygaard cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second doubles over Brayden Dickman and Kiara Keith.
Wednesday’s match at Ottawa-Glandorf (5-3) was rained out. The Pirates play in the Elida tournament Saturday, May 2 at 9 a.m.
