UPDATED Bluffton gas station employee threatened, suspect arrested May 30
UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE, JUNE 2__On May 30, at approximately 1:20 a.m., officers from the Bluffton Police Department assisted the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol in response to a report of a male subject riding a bicycle on Interstate 75 and threatening motorists with a knife.
The male subject was located at the Circle K gas station on Commerce Ln. in Bluffton, where he allegedly threatened an employee and other patrons with a knife and caused damage to property at the business.
Officers attempted to speak with the subject; however, he refused verbal commands to show his hands and continued to approach the officers. In response, a Hancock County Deputy deployed a less-lethal bean bag round to prevent the subject from continuing to advance toward officers.
Dustan Thompson, 42, of Bluffton, was safely taken into custody without further incident. After being medically cleared, Thompson was transported and booked into the Hancock County Justice Center with charges pending.
