BPL UPDATES__The Bluffton Public Library will host the Curious Kids Club, an after-school activity where students explore a variety of activities based on a different theme each month. October's theme is Birds.
Students in grades K through 5 are invited to explore a variety of activities that include STEM challenges, science experiments, and crafts.
The Curious Kids Club will meet on October 15 and November 19 between 2:00 and 4:30. Registration is not necessary.
FROM BPL UPDATES__The Bluffton Public Library is offering a Book Tasting on Thursday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of the library.
If you're wondering what a book tasting is, it's when people come and taste (or sample) different books. The library will be "spicing things up" by offering samplings of four different genres of pizza made from some of Bluffton's finest pizza establishments. Come and enjoy some relaxing conversation and refreshments as you discover new books.
FROM BPL UPDATES__John Jantzen and Wendy Chappell-Dick gave themselves a challenge: to learn 50 songs to celebrate America 250.
These selections range from music popular in colonial times up to the Civil War. Included in the 50 are songs of immigrants, Native Americans and African American Slaves, as well as hymns and courting tunes, all accompanied by dulcimer, guitar and spoons.

Suter Produce has been creating a corn maze since 1999, and I don’t know why it’s taken me so long to experience this northwest Ohio attraction. I decided to tackle the corn maze this year with my family in tow, including two very young grandchildren.
We entered the maze with excitement and were surprised to find there is a scavenger hunt as you go through. They hand you a long piece of cardboard with fill-in-the-blank clues. When you find the clue, you stamp your card.

MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University recognized three individuals for their outstanding commitment to vocation, community and the university during the President’s Banquet Saturday, Oct. 3.
Dr. Christine (Jolliff ’89) Denecker was awarded the Professional Achievement Award, which recognizes a graduate who has continued the pursuit of intellectual growth and has explored creative avenues in his or her chosen field.
