Loving Laura’s Curls created to provide wigs for local cancer patients

MEDIA RELEASE__Today, on what would have been her 48th birthday, a new community-focused nonprofit organization has officially launched in Northwest Ohio to honor the legacy of a local warrior.

Loving Laura’s Curls, co-founded by Josh Huffman and Vanessa Wilson, is a dedicated wig donation and gifting mission designed to bring confidence, dignity and a smile to women navigating a cancer diagnosis. The organization collects gently used wigs, which are then personally cleaned, sanitized and professionally refreshed to be gifted entirely free of charge to local fighters in need.

The inspiration behind the nonprofit stems from a deeply personal, 16-year battle with breast cancer fought by Laura Huffman. To honor her grace, strength, and unwavering determination, the founders chose her birthday to officially launch the mission.

"I wanted to give Laura’s wigs to someone who could truly use them, so I reached out to our good friend, Vanessa," said co-founder Josh Huffman. "Later that night, she came up with this incredible vision and I instantly loved it. We are so incredibly happy to share that one of Laura’s own personal wigs has already been gifted to a courageous woman right here in Putnam County who is currently in the fight."

Loving Laura's Curls relies on the generosity of the community to keep this legacy growing. If you have a wig to donate, or if you know someone in need of a wig who cannot afford one, the organization can be reached directly through Facebook, email, or phone.

Members of the general public, local hair stylists, and regional healthcare networks are highly encouraged to connect with the organization to refer women who could benefit from a free wig during their treatment.
