Individual sought in June 29 shooting at Elida Rd. Meijer store
JUNE 30, 2026 MEDIA RELEASE__Re 6-29-2026 Shooting in Elida Rd. Meijer store.
On June 29, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m., Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Meijer (3298 Elida Rd, Lima, Ohio) in reference to shots fired in the store. Deputies and units from the Lima Police Department arrived on scene, secured and searched the store. No suspects or victims were located in the store.
During the investigation of this incident, it was discovered that a group of younger black males entered Meijer looking for a specific employee that the group was familiar with. A confrontation ensued between this individual and the group leading to a physical altercation. During the altercation a firearm was introduced and a single round was discharged in the store with no injuries being reported. After which all involved parties fled the scene. In an abundance of caution, Meijer was closed for the rest of the day but is now open.
The investigation produced several people of interest, several of whom have been identified. The individual who produced the firearm has been identified as Dezzmin Cobb (DOB 8-16-2007) of Lima, Ohio, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
