Senior Center offers Bus Trips with Debbie
FROM BSC HAPPENINGS_The Bluffton Senior Center's July newsletter highlights the following Bus Trips with Debbie.
- Toledo Mud Hens, Tuesday, June 30 Departs at 10:30 a.m. (Guests are permitted bags no larger than 16 x 16 x 8 inches)
- Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens, Wednesday, July 22 Trip is full, we are taking standby. Departing at 9 a.m. Please note that this bus is full. People will have to sit together on the bus and the train. Boxed lunch included. Please bring money for supper on your own. Cost is $170.00 due at sign up. Level 3 (Flights of Stairs)
- Ashland Historical Trip, Wednesday, August 5 Departs at 7:45 a.m. Join us for an eventful day of history and fun. We will stop at Grandpa’s Cheese Barn on our way to the Ashland County Historical Society for a tour. Lunch will be included at the Der Dutchman. Our last stop will be at the Beyond Measure Market, a non-profit organization that supports former Amish women transitioning to a new life. Cost is $107 due at sign up. Level 2/3. First day to sign up was May 14. Last day will be July 7.
- LaComedia Dinner Theatre, “Come from Away” Thursday, September 17. Departs at 9 a.m. Experience the heartwarming true story of “Come from Away”. This trip is full. We are taking stand-by. Cost is $120 due at sign-up. Level 1
- Elijah, October 7-8 Departing at 7:00 a.m. This will be a delightful overnight trip. We will see the musical, “Elijah Prophet of Fire” and spend the night at the elegant Carlisle Inn Sugarcreek. Lunch will be buffet-style at Dutch Valley restaurant. We will have free time in the Sugarcreek area. Lunch and a deluxe breakfast are included. Supper is on your own. Cost is $347 per person for double occupancy, due at sign-up. The first day to sign up was June 11. Last day, Sept. 8. Level 2.
If you want a copy of the Senior Center's Trip Policy, stop by the office and pick one up. The center will no longer take credit cards for any trip because of the rising credit card fees, which means we will no longer be able to take reservations over the phone. All trips must be signed up in person or a check may be sent in the mail.
The following is an explanation of the levels assigned to the trips.
- LEVEL 1 Minimal walking through parking lots and drop off locations. Standing while waiting in line and for entrance to tours. Will include steps and uneven surfaces throughout the day and steps in and out of motor coach.
- LEVEL 2 Moderate walking/standing, up to half a mile, may include stairs and /or uneven terrain. Plus, on and off motor coach more than once.
- LEVEL 3 Lots of walking/standing for multiple hours. May include flights of stairs and /or uneven terrain. Could include long days.
- LEVEL 4 Extensive walking/standing, climbing stairs or hilly walkways and /or extended weather exposure.
